The Airport Marco Polo is located on terra ferma – the dry land, northeast of the island part of Venice.
The nicest way to get to the island city is – as one can expect by the boat.
There is the regular line vaporetto boats departing every hour, and faster, but 5-6 times more expensive motorboats, that you can book in advance in one of the private companies.
The cheapest way is to take the regular bus, but as Venice is closed for the road traffic both buses and car taxis reach only the zone near Piazzale Roma near Santa Croce district.
On the airport there is the exchange office, and the ticket machines open 24h, the fare you can also pay entering bus or boat, but
be careful when use the private boat, as the drivers can try to cheat on the price, and it is always better to book the services in advance, by phone, or online.
