This tour allows you to feel the history of former Orient Express passengers, among them you can find the crowned heads, celebrities, aristocracy, but also the mysterious passengers of uncertain provenience.
One of such journeys has even finished with a murder, fortunately only on the pages of the famous book by Agatha Christie, but the traces left by James Bond were quite as real, as real is Sean Connery, who acted during some shots for the movie ‘From Russia with Love’.
The first, original line started in 1883 from Paris to Istambul via Munich and Vienna. The passengers needed to use ferries two times, and the whole journey took about a week to complete.
The new Simplon tunnel allowed to open an alternate route to Istambul via Milan and Venice, which operated as a regular line since the end of World War II till 1970′s, when it became obsolete, due to new, faster means of transportation.
The train then has been set on the auction, and some of the original cars from 1920′s and 30′s were bought by the owner of the present company called Venice Simplon Orient Express, who joined them with other original cars to carry on the tradition of golden era of travelling without a hustle, without a rush, surrounded by luxurious items, perfect service and best food available to mortals.
One of the tours, which allows you to join the long list of rich and famous travelling aboard the famous train is prepared by Great Railway Journeys.
