Enjoy a tour of the two iconic buildings of Venice – the Basilica di San Marco and the Palazzo Ducale located on another iconic symbol Piazza San Marco, the famous square

Built in the 9th century Basilica San Marco is one of the best known examples of Byzantine architecture. Gilded Byzantine mosaics from 11th and 12th centuries and also the numerous precious metals items donated by rich merchants give the best status of wealth and power of “Serenissima”.

Both Basilica and Palazzo Ducale witnessed the most important moments in the history of Venetian Republic. The palace has been the residence of the Doge, and the seat of Magistrate meetings. To see are the Great Council Hall, the Chamber of the Council of Ten, prison cells and other rooms. The famous Bridge of Sighs connects the Doge’s Palace with the state prisons.

The tour can easily be taken by those arriving in Venice as part of a cruise. The water taxi transfer into St Marks Square takes approx. 10 min.
