Tour departs from the Alilaguna pier in front of the Royal Gardens (Giardinetti Reali) just near Piazza San Marco and having a choice between morning and afternoon tour, you can save the rest of the day for visiting the icons of Venice.
But glass is definitely one of the most appealing symbols of the city and the tradition of glass blowing here reaches the first century B.C. Since medieval times the glass from Murano is also the symbol of the highest quality and during this tour you will be able to watch the glass-makers during their work, to see the glass-blowing museum and finally, to buy some of these unique pieces of art.
The boat takes you first to the island of Murano to encounter the art of glass making and later proceeds to another island – Burano famous for hand made lance, which you will be able to admire and also to buy some fine examples there.
The last island on the trip is Torcello, which is one of the first human settlements in the lagoon. You will see there the oldest church in the area, Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta built in 7th century with splendid Medieval Byzantine mosaics.
