The tour leads through the part of the city shaped according the will of the founder of the Family Cosimo il Vecchio.
For him architect Michelozzo built between 1444 and 1460 the first residence, which from outside look rather simple, not to anger the citizens with the real power and property.
After visiting the courtyard of Medici Palace, the tour leads upstairs to the private family chapel whose walls are covered with frescoes of family members dipicted as the Three Wise Men and even Infant Jesus himself has a face of Piero – Cosimo’s son.
Next is the interior of San Lorenzo Church with the crypt under the octagonal Chapel of Princes, the New Sacristy built by Michelangelo with his masterpieces, including
the reclining figures of Night and Day and the Dawn and Dusk .
Your tour ends at around 12:00 (Midday) in the Chapel of Princes where there are buried most of Medici members, many of them became princes, hence the name.
