The tour covers all the iconic symbols of Florence, and gives the good introduction to the history of the city, starting from first Etruscan settlements, through Renaissance glory of trade empire to the present times of modern city of top fashion brands.
Accompanied by a guide, board a coach at Piazza Stazione near Railway Station, to drive though Florence streets in the direction of the first photo stop
at Piazzale Michelangelo overlooking the beautiful panorama of the city.
Then the coach travels to the historic centre of Florence, where visitors take a walking tour of the Piazza del Duomo, with the most significant buildings including Baptisery and Duomo ( Cathedral ) .
The guided tour in Galleria dell’ Accademia leads through paintings and sculptures of famous Florentine artists. The works, spanning the 13th to 16th centuries, include the world’s most famous statue, David, by Michelangelo.
After the visit to the Galleria della Accademia you will be taken to a restaurant in the historic centre for a light lunch.
The afternoon starts with a drive to Fiesole. A delightful Etruscan town set in the hills overlooking Florence and the Arno Valley.
Returning to the city centre you will enjoy a walking tour which will take you around the outside of the Franciscan Church of Santa Croce. The church is a burial ground of Florence’s most illustrious citizens including Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo and Rossini. Continue to Piazza Signoria from where you can admire the imposing exterior of the Palazzo Vecchio, the imposing town hall of Florence.
Your last stop of the day is the Uffizi Gallery, home to works of masters such as Titian, Botticelli, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci to name a few. Enjoy a guided tour of the museum, after which can stay and explore on your own.
