Among the most famous nobles’ residences in Bergamo, there are three palaces and one castle-like villa open for visitors, who can experience the splendour of Italian aristocracy’s apartments.
Palazzo Terzi is located on the western side of the old city’s hill, the first building, which dates back to 16th century, has been extended and altered in 18th century by architect Filippo Alessandri, who followed the original style of residence.
Palazzo Moroni is one of the most autentic examples of Baroque art in Bergamo, both in exterior and interior styles, and preserves the mastepieces of Lombardian artists, collected over generations by the Moroni family.Among the other great pieces of art, visitors can see works by G.B.Moroni, Evaristo Baschenis and Fra’ Galgario.
The 13th century tower overlooks the walls of the Palace garden, a green oasis in the heart of Old City.
Palazzo Agliardi has been rebuilt by the noble family Mosconi in 1741, and in the half of the following century came into the hands of Conti Agliari. There are some original pillars left from the 16th century, but the present building remains Baroque in style with a wide courtyard composed by a loggia which overhangs the portico. The palace features an impressive roof garden, which is accessible from the main drawing room surrounded by four small satellite rooms.
Casa Palma Camozzi Vertova, ex Tini Guerinoni has been built in 1522 by Pighetti Calepio’s Counts on the basement of Medieval house. The town walls surrounding the house make the impression of the severe castle in front of Via della Fara, but the interior is more elegant and comfortable as the noble’s residence.Nearby little church to Distressed Virgin Mary has been built in 17th century.
