The best seasons of the year to visit Rome are Spring and Autumn. There is a lot of sun, and the temperature is warm, but not to hot like during the summer months.
Spring
Easter marks the beginning of the tourists season in Rome. Pilgrims from all over the world go to St.Peter’s Square to listen to the Pope’s Easter Surmon, and to visit the most important churches and basilicas of Rome.
The average temperature in April is 18°C (64°F), and in May during some days the maximum can reach up to 28°C (82°F), giving the opportunity to have lunch and dinner ‘al fresco’.
However, the sharp drops in temperature and sudden showers may occur at that time of a year, so for the longer walks a warm pullover and an umbrella may be handy.

Summer
The peak of tourist season with many of music concerts played in the picturesque locations of best palaces, churches and beautiful old courtyards.
Summer is the time of fly markets, fairs under the sun, which unfortunately is getting warmer and warmer, and by August, when the temperature goes above 40°C (104°F) , most of citizens of Rome have already left the city for holidays, and many of shops and restaurants are closed for summer break.

The best time to see Rome are the months September and October, when the day is still long and warm but not as hot as during the summer.
Unfortunately November is usually very rainy, and the tempests in Rome can be very tiring and unexpected.

Winter
It is usually cold in winter, and not all the hotels in Rome have central heating, then in a small hotel you could need to ask about an extra blanket or two, and warmer clothes are useful,although the temperature very seldom goes below 0°C (32°F).
