The most popular romantic city in Italy, waterbourne Venice is one of these magic places, that you must see at least once in your life, but as soon as you arrive here, you do nor want to leave. The city fans from all over the world arrive not only for the famous Carnevale, but also for various regatta competitions, to see the enchanted streets with squares the squares so tiny that you must duck under the drying linens to go through.
The Gondloa ride seems to be a cliche, but you will change your mind after the tour at the dusk following the Canal Grande with famous Rialto Bridge to get lost in a small secret canal just waiting to be discovered.
There are many of historical building to see around Piazza San Marco and all around Venice, palaces, churches and buildings of scuole, which today are popular venues of classical music concerts.
Venice is also the modern city with modern art galleries, including Guggenheim collection, performing arts, theatre and cinema, which have their own months during the Biennale.
If the streets seem to be somehow too small and canals too shallow, get out for a while to visit one of the surrounding islands, to see lace makers on Burano, Murano’s glass blowers, or a mystrious cemetery on San Michele.
Although no road traffic is allowed here, you can arrive to Venice by car, and leave your vechicle on Tronchetto parking, there is a train station, nearby Marco Polo airport serves international flights, and the port of call is just near the city center.
